Revitalisation in Central Park in Chodov is completed
The revitalisation of the western part of Central Park in Chodov, Prague 11, carried out by 'Lesy hl. m. Prahy' (Prague City Forests) since spring 2018, was completed recently.
The park has a new network of paths, extended cycling path, trees, gazebos, and benches. The park also received new public lighting and a greenarea of about 7,350 m². The works took place over the entire western part of the park, which fills the space between the Jižní Město housing estate and the metro line C stations Opatov and Háje.
“After reconstruction, the new park in Chodov offers great opportunities for both relaxation, and sports and outdoor activities. New greenery and trees help to fight drought and heat islands that bother the residents of Prague on hot summer days,” Petr Hlubuček, the deputy Mayor of Prague, said.
‘Lesy hl. m. Prahy’ planted a total of 111 of deciduous trees around the park’s paths and in groups on the green areas. Among them are mainly different types of maples, hornbeams, birches, oaks, ashes and lindens. There are also some fruit trees, such as various types of cherries.
